Darren McCarty of Red Wings Owes Over $62K in IRS Back Taxes

Darren McCarty, famous for being a star for the Detroit Redwings and known for both his fighting ability and his great scoring ability. He was won four Stanely Cup Championships (in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008), is now facing problems with the IRS. McCarty is said to owe $63K in IRS back taxes, according to The Detroit News.

The taxes he owes are from income taxes received back in 2005. A tax lien has been filed on the hockey star because of his lack of response and failure to resolve his back taxes.

McCarty is has become so well known over the years because of his highly publicized NFL fights. His most famous fight was the “Fight Night at the Joe” in 1997 between Colorado Avalanche and the Red Wings. They say this fight was the fight that broke the curse over the Red Wings which allowed them to go on and win the Stanely cup fo rhte first time in more than 40 years.
