J.C Chasez, best known as one of the lead vocalists in the former pop group “N Sync and now a judge for America’s Dance crew owes 206K in back taxes to the state of Mississippi.

Joe Francis, producer of Girls Gone Wild video series has sued the IRS for levying and freezing his assets which included a bank account levy. In October, Francis pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns and will be facing jail time. He has agreed to pay IRS back taxes and interest totaling $249.7k in addition to a $10k fine.

Sinbad (David Adkins), known for being a stand up comedian and actor, is having some serious financial problems. On December 11th Sinbad filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy and reported that he had between $11 million and $49 million in liabilities. Of those liabilities it is reported that he owed $8.2 Million in Federal back taxes.

Symantec, the major computer security firm, won a case in US Tax Court against the IRS saving it around $545 million. The IRS stated that Symantec should be responsible for back taxes owed by Veritas Software after the acquisition in 2005, according to Marketwatch.

The Oregon State legislature approved SB 880, on 6/29/09 that provides tax amnesty for state taxpayers and businesses with back taxes stemming from 2007 or later. Taxpayers who need to file or amend a tax return may complete and send in an application before the November 19th deadline (it started October 1st, 2009) in order to abate or remove penalties. Moreover, those who come forward will also benefit because the total interest amount due will be cut in half. The Oregon State Department of Revenue (ODR) states as well unfiled taxes return or tax returns that need to be amended must be filed before 1/19/2010.
