Recently I’ve written reviews on both TurboTax and H&R Block and have found that both of these tax programs are excellent programs and can help just about anyone file their taxes. Both of these programs easy enough to navigate even for those individuals with very little tax knowledge. Tax software is a great alternative to using a tax professional and is significantly cheaper.
Below is a side by side comparison of prices to the different programs offered by each company. As you can see from below, the two companies are very competitive in their pricing and offer similar prices for their similar tax software programs. Depending on your needs, you can save a few dollars by picking the cheaper one below. My suggestion would be to pick one that you will be willing to stick with the next couple years because it is a real time saver with having the program pull in prior years basic information. Using the same program year after year can significantly reduce the risk of audits because the paid version of the programs check for errors by comparing data to last years returns, similar to the way the IRS checks for red flags. The programs offered to differ slightly and I have noted a few of the main difference.
