Ronald Reagan once proposed eliminating the federal corporate income tax. That was in 1983 and the same issue has been brought back to the table; however it doesn’t seem like too many people are taking notice.

The state of Pennsylvania has extended to its taxpayers a limited time offer to resolve delinquent state taxes without fear of persecution. The 2010 Pennsylvania Tax Amnesty program is available from April 26, 2010 through June 18, 2010. This special period of amnesty is the result of Act 48 which was signed into law on October 9, 2009.

For some, federal taxes are the bane of their existence. With ever-changing rules and the economy still struggling to get back up to par, taxpayers are undoubtedly outraged when they feel someone else isn’t holding up their end of the deal. Hard-working citizens who are shelling out tax dollars often gripe about those who are not contributing their fair share to the taxman. It’s easy to point the finger at the low income sector of society or those wealthy citizens who seem to receive unending tax breaks but things are not always as they appear at first glance.

This week, the State of Maryland will start their program “Maryland’s Tax Do Over” that will last from September 1st through October 30th, for Maryland taxpayers who did not pay or file their taxes as SB552 was approved by the governor on May 7th, 2009.

Today, the Wall Street Journal reported that certain State Tax Revenue Agents are using social sites to find those taxpayers that owe money and who been trying to stay under the radar. Social sites like Facebook.com, MySpace.com, and others have been named in the article.
